It’s safe to say that everyone owns a cell phone, has used a cell phone, or at least know what one is. Cell phones are just one example of the broad realm of mobile communications.

Mobile communications include any electronic device that is used solely to communicate to another by way of a network and satellite. These are also known as “cell sites” and today, there are many of them. The first mobile phone first rose to the surface in 1973. It was invented by a man named Dr. Martin Cooper who worked for Motorola. His model wasn’t released to the public until 1983.

Cell phones have evolved over the years from the original boxy two-way radio to the tiny hand-held device it is today. Cell phones also have also evolved in their capabilities and support many additional services such as Internet access, text messaging, gaming, Bluetooth and camera functions. Cell phones manufactured and sold in stores come standard with these functions today.

Mobile communications has evolved since the late 90s when cell phones really began to grow popular, specifically with Smartphones. A Smartphone is just what it is; a phone, but better. Smartphones have all kinds of capabilities and functions that blow a regular mobile phone out of the water. The capabilities include, of course, Internet and email, messaging, weather reports, calendars, and even camera and GPS functions.

Applications are a very helpful and popular Smartphone function. “Apps” are downloadable programs that come in all different sizes and features for different hobbies, interests, and purposes. Apps are available for Facebook, sports, books, food and recipes, education, and even movies. Some Apps are free and others cost a small amount of money. The costs range from $0.99 to several dollars.

The telephony industry and mobile communications are one of the top industries today. In 1990 only approximately 12.4 million people were cell phones subscribers compared to 2009 when 4.6 billion were cell phone subscribers. In just a little under twenty years, the amount of people subscribing to cellular plans and purchasing cell phones grew exponentially. Now we have become a society that cannot live without them.

As great as mobile communications are, it has its pitfalls like any piece of technology. Mobile communications has created a giant web of interaction all over the globe, however, it has also become a hazard. The only other industry to double in business with the rise in mobile communications is the auto body and repair industry. So many vehicle accidents have occurred due to drivers either talking or texting while driving, and unfortunately, many lives were lost due to this fact. Mobile communications and technology is meant to help us, but abusing their benefits will only produce negative, and even hazardous effects.

Mobile communications and the telephony industry have rapidly changed our lives. Since we rely so much on cell phones, it is very difficult to think about what life would be like without them. Organizations cannot function today without cell phones and computers. In fact, no organization is even considered valuable without technology. As a result, millions of jobs have been created to meet the needs and demands of organizations that need a professional and knowledgeable IT staff to maintain their information systems.

Some of the greatest writers and film directors of our time have all tried to predict where technology will take us in the future. The possibilities for technological advances in the future are endless. Information technology has already greatly impacted our society. What new gadget will surface that promises to make our lives easier? Will the world become one giant Wi-Fi dome? What does the future hold?

What would we do without computer science and engineering today? Some forty years ago, computes were only a luxury. But now with everything running on a computer, it is important for us to be able to understand how computes run and function in order to keep our world turning.

In 1971, Case Western Reserve University located in Cleveland, Ohio was the first institution to offer an accredited computer science advanced degree program. As technology’s usage and availability increased over the last forty years, the need and demand for professionals specializing in computer science and technology increased. As a result, this led to the influx in computer science and IT jobs across the globe. Furthermore, the demand called for more institutions to offer advanced degree programs in computer science.

What is computer science and engineering anyway? Computer science and engineering encompasses a number of high tech tasks in several different fields. Some of these fields include mechanics, electrical engineering, and even robotics. The more in depth tasks include understanding and studying how and why a computer functions, its properties and components.

Computer science and engineering are also directly related to robotics. Robotics is the study and research of the mechanics, functionality, and technology behind robots. A lot of the parts involved with robotics are also shared by computer science and engineering such as the sharing of digital systems, communications, and motors and sensors.

Computer engineers must be well educated and experienced in the field of computer science. In these days of modern technology, there are all kinds of software and hardware, operating systems, programs, viruses and trojans, and settings to be aware of. This is why we hire IT professionals.

However, the computer still needs some improvements. It is true that computers have come a LONG way since the 70s, but we still aren’t quite there yet. They can do irreparable damage by stealing or corrupting files or steal personal information. This is a big reason why identity theft is such a concern today.

eBooks: Is Publishing Dying, or Changing?

It’s safe to say that by now, most have heard of the Kindle, the Nook, and the iPad. These new technologies are what we call eReaders. They are a digital, electronic way of reading eBooks.

eBooks are books in electronic and digital formats of a printed book. Most of them are in a PDF format which are downloadable into a eReader. eReaders include, most popularly, the Kindle, the Nook, and the iPad. Most eBooks derive from an already printed edition of a book, but more and more solely digital copies are becoming available online.

The first eBooks available on the Internet were technical manuals. With the widespread expansion of the Internet in the 90s, eBooks advanced from electronic manuals to actual digital copies of fiction and non-fiction pieces. Since technology and the Internet is still so new to us as a society, oftentimes we are unsure on how to handle it, or what is acceptable and unacceptable behavior.

Since the release of Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes and Noble’s Nook, and Apple’s iPad, which all have eReader functions, eBook sales have skyrocketed and outsold printed hardcover books for the first time ever in 2010. Amazon reported that it sold 140 eBooks for every 100 hardcover books. The American Publishing Association reported that approximately 8.5% of sales in 2010 were eBooks.

eBook sales have increased immensely since the release of the popular eReaders, Amazon’s Kindle, Barnes and Noble’s Nook, and Apple’s iPad. eBooks outsold regular hardback books for the first time ever in 2010. On the other hand, eBooks and eReaders have caused some problems among authors and publishers. Authors and publishers today fight for royalties and for fair revenue. With the wide expansion of available eBooks on the Internet, there has been little to no control for publishers to set a fair price. There have also been distribution and copyright concerns.

These new technologies have vastly affected society and that includes our schools. Children in school today now rely on technology to learn. Publishers today are trying to stay ahead of the game by offering electronic and digital educational materials to schools in place of textbooks. For example, Pearson Education, the largest international publisher, offers educational media components that accompany textbooks to help with the cost. Also, Pearson also has a custom publishing division that works with K-12 schools and organizations and even higher educational institutions such as colleges and universities with their materials. Pearson will design custom print textbooks or media components at a reduced cost.

One can clearly see how these new technologies have both helped and hurt our society. As most technological advances, they have greatly impacted our world and changed the way we live. But will they change our society so much that they will completely outdo print altogether?

But the real question is how much of a difference will it make?

See what most people don’t know is that cleaning up your registry will not make your computer super fast. What will happen is that your computer will become a tiny bit faster – so tiny that you most likely will not even notice a difference. If you are lucky you might save a few seconds here and there, but don’t buy into the hype that is going on. What the registry companies and computer geeks don’t tell you is that using a registry cleaner to clean up your computer only cleans up small portions of your computer.

Making your computer faster requires that you spend some working on different parts of your computer to make it more efficient like tweaking the operating system and cleaning out parts of the computer. Using a registry cleaner is like having a messy desk to clean and you are focusing on cleaning out one drawer. Sure that one drawer will be really neat and organized but the overall picture (the desk in this case) will still be messy and inefficient to use.

If you are interested in it, just do a Google search for it. Just download the program and install it. Once installed, on the left hand side click on Registry and click on Scan for issues. It will now scan your computer to see where the errors are and then you will be able to remove the errors that are on your registry. Also Ccleaner doubles as a great general all purpose cleaner for your computer. Just click on Run Cleaner on the home screen and it will clean out your temporary internet files, cookies, your history and other pieces of data that are not needed anymore.

Viruses And The Relation To Your Computer’s Decrease In Performance

Well thankfully for you I have years of experience with multiple different anti-virus programs and I’ll recommend the top two one that I have used on my personal computers and recommend to other people.

The very first proram that I use is called AVG Anti-Virus. With this piece of software you can get a free version and a paid version. If you dont have enough money for the paid version of the software, dont worry, just use the free one – it works jsut find. I have actually used the free one for a few years now and I personally think that it works just as good as most paid ones. But obviously, the paid version of this software has a few more features on it that you can use. Now, when you decided to use AVG as your main anti-virus program, what you are going to need to do is tune it to make your computer faster. There are many different ways to “tune” the program to do this, but for the most part I am going to focus on just one trick in this article, preventing it from performing a scan as soon as you turn on your computer. What this means is that you are going to have to manually tell it to perform scan when it is convenient for you. To do this, just click on the “Computer Scanner”, click on the Manage Scheduled Scans and then select “Edit Scan Schedule”. Now all you have to do to finish off is to just uncheck the box that says “Enable this task”

The second anti-virus program that I highly recommend is called ESET Nod 32 Anti-Virus. This is one htat you are going to have to pay for but you do get a lot more protection, it is easy to use and you do not have to configure it at all – it just runs smoothly and it won’t slow your computer down. I highly recommend this anti-virus to anyone.
