Did the UK’s Empire Lead the way to the Fashioning of recent World?
Almost like Destiny was delivering opportunity to each and every one and also more or less suggesting no one wins, our history has noticed empires going up with pooled pride followed by crumpling downwards with division. Though European empires followed suite in the making of empires, almost due to a modern touch, it was revolutions that brought them all the way down. Winning France and extending up to ‘Sun never sets in the British Empire’, it was the British Empire that governed more.
Although begun as a business venture, with businessmen not really ruling, a basic right to arm themselves against pirates offered by an Indian ruler modified the history of East India Company, India plus the world. When this was united with ‘united we stand’, here (even the Scots!) and Indian known but Britain patented ‘divide and rule’ there, winning was a not impossible. When ‘united we stand’ was incredibly extended to native fighters, victory became smooth. Praising the ruled not serving rule; when denigration of local’s imaginations and ways was added, even ruling was smooth. As if to play hide and seek, the rulers lived in cantonment spots and emerged outside particularly for comfort or work. Although the locals, who were called natives, dint entirely get handshakes with the rulers, rulers among them even became playing buddies. Very nearly proclaiming ‘rulers of the world unite’, the Brits even got support from the local chiefs. Years just went past and The united kingdom grew to become richer and natives poorer. Nonetheless, being skilled at hiding shortcomings and utilising loudspeaker for advantages, called propaganda machine, they even got respect as good rulers.
However, almost suggesting teaching of freedom, fraternity and equality- standards associated with French Revolution, was not a good idea; it was the trained ones, who prompted political revolutions that finally sent the Brits back to their isles. Increasing the disaster, not thoroughly planned divide of the subcontinent into India and the freshly shaped Pakistan on religious lines saw the carnage of many many millions of individuals. Empire itself had a vital impact on the history of many countries of the world, as well as on Europe.
Just like a number of British people disliking Germans, there are Indians, who dislike the British and blame them of being responsible for the Indian famine, taking away money from India and using the ‘divide and rule’ policy in order to govern. Nonetheless, there are also several British people, who think that Empire was good. They believe that Britain made India modern.
In relation to the modern world, the result of Empire on science technology and Industrial Revolution cannot be neglected. Almost using Briton’s ‘divide and rule’, on Empire’s effect on the West and the rest, the book with a strange title, ‘Women’s Power: Its Past, Its Present, Its Future: Femocracy’ examines the pros and cons of the Empire and narrates the contributions it made in the formation of the modern world.
