5 Reasons Why You Want to Blog
My clients always tell me they just don’t have the time for blogging. They also seem to be mystified by the thought of what to write.
These reactions are merited. It’s true you have to have time to blog and it can sometimes be challenging to decide what to blog about. Once your blogging flow starts it’s not bad, promise. As for the time aspect, (unless you hire us to do it for you), there’s not much to say about that. I will try to help you figure out what to write about later on. Right now, I just want to show you why it’s so important to blog and how it can help you bring in clients.
Reason #1- Blogging shows off your expertise status. Usually, when you blog you’re writing about a topic you know a lot about. This gives your audience a chance to get to know you and why they should trust you, which in turn will help them decide if they want to work with you.
Reason #2- Blogging is a great way to reach out to clients and prospective clients and get them to act on something you might propose.
Reason #3- As long as you make sure to include popular keywords in your blog, more people will end up visiting your site. Blogging platforms are “crawled” by search engines (Yahoo, Google, Bing) daily for these terms. The more you post the more people will find you and the more traffic you will get to your site, hence better rankings on those search engines.
Reason #4- Blogging creates a following. Look at famed author Gary Vaynerchuck. Gary’s book is called, Crush It. If you are serious about blogging for your business, reading this book should be the first thing on your list. Gary built his entire wine business with blogging, and has lived to tell about it.
Reason #5- It allows you to have a far greater reach than other forms of media. Think Global instead of Local.
So, now it’s time to battle the what to write issue. If you absolutely have no idea what to write about, start by asking yourself the top ten most frequently asked questions people ask you. Take each question and answer them in your blog. “How-tos” are very popular to write about and you could even try doing so in a video. Video posts make things more real and can allow for more interaction. Videos can also help boost traffic and search rankings. After you answer your top ten FAQs, think about the top ten SAQs (questions people SHOULD ask) and write about those.
Getting started is always tricky and can be frustrating. However, once you get yourself into a blogging state of mind, it be simple and even fun. Try it out!
